The ideal American Beauty

They say beauty is only skin deep, but most people feel; beauty is only in the eye of the beholder. And I think that beholder is society and the media. It seems that since the beginning of time that a "certain" look has always been considered as sultry, sexy, powerful and stunning and that look is, fair skinned, blue eyed and blond or brunette.

Basically what I'm saying is, America runs on the white face and flaunts it proudly. Before I continue I would like to say that no I am not a racist and I don't have anything against white people. But the fact is, everywhere you look, from ads, commercials, runways, magazines,  etc.  this is what you see. My opinion, beauty comes in all colors and should be acknowledged from all corners and not just one angle. Its like eating the same food over and over, and some point it would have to start to get boring.

And technically, I'm bored with seeing the same typical faces and would like to see more color displayed and not just black people, all people of color mixed in with the non-color faces. God created two sexes and a variety of ethnicity's and I think we should embrace that as well as white people, embrace everyone as a whole, not a separate. Having white skin does not make you beautiful, anymore than having colored skin, everyone is beautiful in their own way. But society and the media have a way of blocking others out. Yeah sure, you may see one or two people blended in with white faces, but overall the fair skin rules. The world is diverse in color, but lacks diversity otherwise and I think diversity should rule and bring people together as one, I look around me and I see beautiful people of ALL colors, black, yellow, white, etc just everyone.

But unfortunately, everyone doesn't have my same view on life, when you talk about who's hot and who's not. Why can't the girl next door be me or my Asian friend, why does it have to be the brunette or blond. Why is it when we hear southern belle, we automatically picture blond with southern charm, why can't it be someone else. I just think people should open their eyes to a whole new lease on life and look around them and see the wonderful shades of beauty the world has to offer and maybe one day when we turn the page of a magazine or turn on our television, we will see a rainbow instead of a white background with a shade of blue, metaphorically speaking.
